This model of a sliding scale was created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk, of Cunning and Worts Apothecary. Coming from an economic justice lens, they have developed a way of receiving payment which calls on the client to be honest about their access to resources and privilege. Much gratitude to Alexis for creating a fantastic and clear way of helping clients decide what price they can pay, and saving me months of deliberation, trial and error. This model, and ones similar to it, have helped me understand what I am able to pay for others’ services despite my sometimes dominant scarcity-mindset.
“Class and economic justice are topics that lots of folks struggle to talk about in the United States because most of us aren’t educated in schools or the culture at large to talk about money, access to resources, and what class actually is. Class, of course, cannot be understood as an isolated experience, but is part of the complex interactions of race, gender, ability, privilege, sexuality, and the myriad of identities we all hold. I think the sliding scale is a great way to begin a conversation about class because it frames the discussion from the standpoint of access.” -Alexis J. Cunningfolk
If you feel that you cannot currently afford the lowest tier, drop me a note here and let’s talk.

A Quick Guide to the Sliding Scale
$110 per session- The top tier fee is the actual cost of services. If you choose the price below the top tier you are receiving a discount. An introductory three-session discount is available for $300.
$80 per session-The middle price is for those who are able to meet their basic needs but have little-to-no expendable income. Paying for a session may qualify as a sacrifice but it would not create hardship. There are eight slots available at this price point. An introductory three-session discount is available for $220.
$60 per session- The bottom price is for those who struggle to meet basic needs and paying for sessions would still be a significant hardship. There are five slots available at this price point. An introductory three-session discount is available for $150.
$130 per session- The Pay-It-Forward price is twenty bucks above the actual cost of services and that extra money goes towards supporting free and low-cost sessions for those who cannot pay the lowest price point. Essentially it’s an opportunity to not only receive services, but also support your fellow community members while you’re at it. Sweet!
